Can my Ipod play the car games by turning the ipod itself to steer?

My friend has a Ipod Chromatic and the car games he plays, he uses his ipod as a whole to steer, not just the click wheel.
Does this have anything to do with the accelerometer? Can my Ipod do the same?
Btw, my iPod is the nano 3rd generation.
Please help.

Yes, it does have something to do with the accelerometer. It relys on the accelerometer to know the controls for the games. However, the iPod Nano 3G does not have a built-in accelerometer, so the answer would be no, your iPod can not play those games that require the accelerometer.
