How do I stop my iPod Touch from staying in the boot screen?

My iPod 1g is perpetually stuck in the booting screen (the one with the apple after you turn it back on). I’ve tried to quickboot it with 1ClickBoot and BootHelper but the iPod seems to ignore them and stay in DFU mode instead. Help please!
