Mindi asked:

Okay. My ipod broke the other day. :[ and im going to buy an Ipod touch (the second generation). I was looking for cases and it says “compatible with the 1st generation of Ipod Touch”. I was wondering what the difference is between the two to see if that case would work on the ipod im getting. Any answers?

Well the second generation is slimmer.
And it has volume adjustments on the side which the first generation doesn’t have. I think the second generation would still fit it would just be loose.

There isnt much of a difference except that the has second generation has a physical buttons for volume control and an internal speaker. The battery on the second generation has a longer battery life as well. The second also comes with a chrome frame identical to a 3G iPhone making it such a sleek design. Need more info? As they said above, the ipod touch 2 generation is slimmer. I got it two days ago and absolutely love it. I got a case for it and it works great. Its called Jam Jacket. It fits perfect and you can still use the volume buttons on the side. I would reccomend getting this. It even has a place for your headphones on the back and comes with a screen protector. i got it at best buy for like 20 bucks or 15 bucks. but good luck.

I am typing from my touch 2g now, and it’s in a1g case. It fits very well, and it’s not loose. They made it look thinner but really it’s not. The touch 2g is amazing, don’t get me wrong but I think at it’s thickest point, it is thicker. The touch 2G is a very smart idea. In conclusion, get don’t pay attention to the 1G and 2G title on case titles. Most importantly, ENJOY YOUR IPOD TOUCH 2G!!!!!!

The Ipod touch has a thinner desighn, more 3-d games and volume speaker adjustments. If anyone has a regular 1st generation one and would like to update it u can do it for 10 dollars from apple but, won’t get the exterior benifits

The iPod touch 2nd Gen is the same size as the 1st Gen and the only differences are that the battery lasts longer, it has a built in speaker (like iPhone), has volume buttons, it is also compatible with the Nike+ software (which used to only work for iPod nano and it has Genius which is like TiVo except it searches for songs related from your library songs but you can get Genius on 1st gen Touch with 2.1 update.

and it will fit in a first generation iPod touch case
    hope that helps
    cheers
